SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The City of Reno is requesting input from residents on the Midtown area of Reno, which lies in  Ward Three, represented by Councilwoman Jessica Sferrazza and Ward One, represented by Councilman Dan Gustin. Staff will lead the discussion to explore the success stories of this area, the challenges, the boundaries and ideas to support and promote the Midtown area.

The meeting will be on Thursday, March 1, 6pm at Reno City Hall, Council Chambers, One East First Street.

Participants will assist in identifying the area within the Master Plan and/or amending the zoning code to overcome some of the challenges and share the possible opportunities.

Preliminary plans show the Midtown area as being generally the area located west of Holcomb Avenue and east of Plumas Street between California Avenue and Regency Way.  The goal of the Midtown plan is to support the neighborhood’s current businesses and redevelopment as well as provide guidance for the residential character for now and in the future. There is currently a diverse blend of single family, multifamily and commercial land uses, with a range of architectural styles.

For more information, please contact Claudia Hanson, Planning and Engineering Manager, at 334-2381 or [email protected].
