The Grand Sierra Resort announces the opening of the Cantina, an authentic Mexican restaurant serving small plate cuisine and hosting one of the largest selections of tequila in the area.  For a complete menu, visit the website at www.grandsierraresort.com and click on casual dining.

“It’s been a lot of fun developing the Cantina concept,” said Gary Astemborski, executive sous chef, Grand Sierra Resort.  “We’ve hired some talented chefs, flair bartenders and engaging servers so whether you’re in the mood for house made tamales or a shot of tequila from our tequila menu stop on by and we’ll pour you a shot of our infused tequila of the day.”

Cantina offers tequila connoisseurs an extensive selection of more than 115 varieties of blanco, reposado and anejo assortments to blend the perfect margarita.  Specialty tequila cocktails pair watermelon, pineapple and jalapeño pepper infused tequila with hot Tamales, watermelon chunks,  berries and other appealing accompaniments.   “Master distiller” selections are available for flights of three-one ounce samples.  The bar also serves a variety of domestic and imported beers.  Sports fans can partake in broadcasts of their favorite teams.

The intimate restaurant serves authentic small plates of delicious Mexican favorites such as warm, crispy tortilla chips with fresh house-made guacamole or the tasty and flaky empanadas.  For those with a larger appetite, “The “Papa Grande”, a giant potato stuffed with carne asada, pork carnitas, grilled chicken, beans, corn, tomato and lettuce topped with queso, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole, comes with a challenge – finish it all and the Cantina provides a shot of house tequila.

The Cantina is open for lunch and dinner seven days per week serving food Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bar remains open weekends until midnight.
