SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The Nevada National Guard currently has about 50 soldiers and airmen working the areas of the Washoe Drive Fire south of Reno.

The Guard members are primarily working an 11-mile corridor of the affected areas as a security presence helping augment local first responders. They are ensuring no unauthorized personnel enter the areas and will continue to maintain general safety in the area.

Additionally, yesterday afternoon three Nevada guard fire trucks and supporting personnel responded to help battle the blaze. Those assets have since stood down.

No other Guard assets have been requested.
