Clinic Takes Place Monday Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

RENO, Nev. (January 19, 2012)—The Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition (NNIC), Saint Mary’s Health Enhancement and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada are partnering to bring low-cost flu shots to the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC). On Monday, Jan. 30 the Food Bank of Northern Nevada office space will be transformed into an immunization clinic, which will provide the 2011-2012 influenza vaccination for all children 3 years old and up, adults and seniors.
“Taking time out of the day to get a flu shot is a lot easier said than done, especially for those who work outside of Reno-Sparks” Heidi Hurst, director of NNIC, said. “That’s why we are bringing this clinic to TRIC. With winter weather finally here, and Washoe County Health District reporting influenza Type A cases, we are trying to stay ahead of the game and protect our community.”
According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) there are early indications that flu season may be getting underway. Three regions of the country report elevated levels of influenza-like illness and more states and territories reported greater geographical spread of influenza—making this the ideal time to get vaccinated.

The flu clinic will take place Monday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada located at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, 550 Italy Drive, McCarran Nev. Immunizations are $5 or FREE with the donation of two canned food items. For Saint Mary’s HealthFirst (HMO/POS), Health Choice (PPO), HPN or Aetna members, flu shots are no charge with a presented insurance card at the time of service.
