WASHOE COUNTY  NEWS RELEASE

Acting County Manager David Childs has issued a statement in response to recent questions regarding fire services:

“At its December 13, 2011 meeting, the County Commission targeted February for its next joint meeting with the cities of Reno and Sparks to discuss, among other things, regional fire services. In the past two years, the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and the City of Reno have conducted regular joint fire meetings regarding the consolidated fire services agreement. Additionally, staff from the County is committed to meeting, as appropriate, with City staff to facilitate the transition of the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.

“We recognize the challenges in providing quality fire services throughout the region, and the Fire Commissioners have approved a detailed transition plan to ensure fire and related emergency services are not disrupted when fire services are moved back to the District on July 1, 2012.”
