SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Chief Mike Brown, Incident Commander of the Sierra Front Incident Management Team, reports that the Caughlin Fire is 100% contained at 1,935 acres. The fire management team will transition the Caughlin Fire over to Reno Fire Departments at 8:00am tomorrow morning. Rehabilitation of dozer and hand line construction was completed today with concentration on bringing landscape back to its natural state and concentration on placing appropriate water bars for erosion control issues that may arise from the ground being unstable. Fire personnel will maintain presence and continue extinguishing all flare-ups and hot spots over night.

Local law enforcement will continue patrolling and assisting citizens in all impacted areas. Residents may see Sheriff’s Office and Reno Police Units responding to calls for service, regardless of jurisdiction, those units will be taking reports then forwarding the case to the appropriate investigating agency.

Remember that those structures that have been impacted by the Caughlin Fire have been tagged with either red or yellow placards. Persons are advised to follow the warnings on those placards to limit further damage and personal injury. With inclement weather in our region, snow fall may cover or further weaken structures. Homeowners should use extreme caution when approaching their homes and while removing personal property from their property.
