Saint Mary’s Immunizations hosts flu shot clinic- Dec. 10

On Saturday, Dec. 10, Saint Mary’s will offer a flu shot clinic at the Summit Sierra Mall at 13925 South Virginia Street from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost of the vaccine is only $20 and available to those 3 years and older. The clinic will be located next to Yankee Candle in the former Ann Taylor Loft building. The Clinic at Walmart Flu Shots

Saint Mary’s Medical Group also offers flu shots at both Walmart clinics, located at 5065 Pyramid Hwy (Spanish Springs) and 4855 Kietzke Lane. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 770-SMMG.

Community WellCheck- Dec. 3 & 15

Monthly Community WellChecks offers a wide variety of affordable health screenings and immunizations to help identify potential health risks. All screenings are held from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Center for Health, at 645 N. Arlington, 3rd floor. Cost varies. To schedule an appointment, call 770-7100.

Hands-on Grocery Store Tour – Dec. 14

Saint Mary’s team of registered dietitians is offering a hands-on Grocery Store Tour on Wednesday, Dec. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. at Scolari’s at 1300 Disc Drive in Sparks. Tours will provide participants with budget-wise shopping tips that can be used to purchase healthy, nutritional foods. The cost of the tour is only $10. To register, call 770-7100.

Discounted mammogram screening offered through Dec. 31

Preventive healthcare is important to maintaining optimal health and by getting an annual mammogram you can detect breast cancer earlier. To make your annual screening simpler, Saint Mary’s Outpatient Imaging is offering a discounted mammogram screening for only $100 (radiologist reading fee included). Schedule an appointment today by calling 770-3187. Free Chronic Disease Management Class Series – Begins Jan. 19

If you are 55 or older and have arthritis, heart or lung problems, high blood pressure, cancer or other chronic conditions, our free six-week class is for you.  During the program, you will learn how to manage your chronic disease through exercise techniques, community resources, setting goals, and tips on optimizing your relationship with your physician. The class series will meet weekly on Thursdays starting on Jan. 19 through Feb. 23, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at City of Reno Neil Road Recreation Center at 3925 Neil Road in Reno. Lung Cancer CT Screening

Saint Mary’s Center for Cancer now offers a safe low-dose CT screening for detecting lung cancer. The new technology reduces cancer deaths by 20 percent compared to traditional chest X-rays. Ideal candidates for this screening are those aged 55-74 years old with a history of smoking. Screenings require a physician order and cost $199, which includes the CT exam and radiologist interpretation fees. To learn more, call 770-7775.

Women’s Health Rehabilitative Care

Saint Mary’s Rehabilitation Therapy is now offering a specialized program for women needing rehabilitative care. The program offers state-of-the-art treatment technologies and a staff of highly-qualified physical and occupational therapists. Rehabilitative programs will focus on pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, pre- and post-partum back pain, urinary incontinence, spinal mobilization, lymphedema, and cancer-related fatigue.
