MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. – Join the Mammoth Lakes Foundation for two fun days of learning and tasting with renowned chefs and wine experts at the Blue Sky Food & Wine Seminars July 8-9, 2011 at Edison Theatre. New to Blue Sky Fest, the seminars share the world of celebrated wines and culinary delights from the perspective of top chefs and vintners. Each seminar features wine tastings paired with tapas-style plates to bring out the best flavors of each. A choice of seven seminars over two days includes:

Spanish Wine and Tapas – Spanish wine expert Chris Collins partners with Winery Chefs’ Richard Haake to introduce guests to the flavors of Spain. Spanish wines including Cava, Tempranillo and Grenache are paired with tapas, or Spanish small plates, to create perfect pairings for all attendees.

The Emergence of Paso Robles – 40 years in the making, this famous California wine region boasts 200 world-class wineries. Join vintner Gary Eberle of Eberle Winery as he engages, entertains and educates attendees about the fastest-growing wine region in California. Gary will pour central coast wines from his estate, paired with a selection of small bites.

An Introduction to the Art of Wine and Food Pairing – David Katz, C.I.A, Greystone chef/instructor and owner of Panevino, Food for Wine in Napa Valley guides guests through the basics of wine and food pairing. David will discuss pairings with the wines of Mirassou Winery. Learn the basics in this unpretentious seminar that pairs attendees with food, wine and chef.

Chef Frederic’s Best – Mammoth’s very own Chef Frederic Pierrel of the Lakefront restaurant prepares two of his favorite recipes from his cookbook, Chef Frederic’s Best. After the demonstration, Chef Frederic signs cookbooks for attendees. This seminar includes pairing with one of our winery partners.

Your Fit Gourmet Yvonne Talley – Chef Yvonne Tally, private chef, fitness guru, and entrepreneur, energizes the crowd with a flavorful cooking demonstration pairing light, healthy, seasonal flavors with the wines of Talley Vineyards.

California Vintage – Join Chef Richard Haake and Peachy Canyon Winery for a pairing seminar introducing the flavors of California that have become a hit in California Vintage, Hong Kong’s first all-California wine bar.
