For the eighth year in a row, SDI has named Renown Health among its top 100 integrated healthcare networks (IHNs) in the nation. The recognition is awarded to health care organizations that provide patients with a coordinated continuum of care.

“Integrated healthcare networks provide the full spectrum of care ranging from wellness programs to primary and specialty care, as well as long-term care and insurance,” said Jim Miller, Renown Health president and chief executive officer. “Our integrated health network allows the patient to seamlessly access a vast array of services, facilities and providers leading to improved satisfaction, better outcomes and reduced costs.”

Renown Health is among the ranks of other prestigious organizations to receive the Top 100 award which include the UC Davis Health System and Scripps Health.

“Another benefit of being an integrated healthcare network is it prepares our organization for the future,” said Miller. “In anticipation of Medicare payment reform, many hospitals, physician groups, and health systems are forming Accountable Care Organizations, or ACOs.” Miller added, “Integrated healthcare organizations, such as ours, with an integrated network of providers already in place, have a big head start in adapting to healthcare reform changes.”

SDI’s annual report, published annually by Modern Healthcare, is regarded as the nation’s premier rating system for evaluating integrated healthcare networks on their performance and degree of integration. A total of 593 non-specialty, local and regional healthcare networks were surveyed for the 2011 ranking. The ratings are based on each network’s ability to operate as a unified organization for the patient’s benefit in each of eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization and physicians.
