Joey Orduna to join Governor’s staff

GOVERNOR’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE

CARSON CITY – Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed Joey Orduna, J.D. to the position of Legislative Coordinator in Sandoval’s office.

“I am thrilled that Joey has agreed to join my team as Legislative Coordinator,” Governor Sandoval said. “Joey’s experience with the judicial branch and with numerous pieces of state legislation will help my office ensure that the Cabinet and agency heads are integrally involved with the legislative process.”

Currently the Assistant Court Administrator at the Second Judicial District Court in Washoe County, Orduna has also been the Model Courts Division Manager at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges Permanency Planning for Children Department in Reno. Her work for the District Court included legislative tracking, project management, and coordination with each judge’s office. A graduate of the Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Orduna also has a B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Orduna has been involved in organizing and presenting at national, state and local conferences and trainings in the areas of court/agency/community collaboration; court improvement in child abuse and neglect cases; child protection; systems change efforts; and the Indian Child Welfare Act. She has contributed to and or written in 14 publications.
