The University of Nevada, Reno is featuring the following events this week:

“Fill a Bus,” Wednesday, Dec. 8

10 a.m.-5 p.m., Joe Crowley Student Union

Peer Educators in the University’s Center for Student Cultural Diversity and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. have teamed up to “Fill a Bus” for the Toys for Tots Foundation, helping the holiday season brighter for children who would not otherwise have gifts. The bus will be located in the parking lot in front of the Student Union. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted now through Dec. 8 in the Center on the Third Floor of the Student Union or in any Toys for Tots bin across campus.

Honors Food and Fun Barbeque, Wednesday, Dec. 8

11 a.m.-1 p.m., Jot Travis Building, next to the Honors Program Office

Students take a break from studying to refuel on Prep Day. The Honors Pack, Honors Program and Associated Student of the University of Nevada (ASUN) host free food and drinks; open to all students.

The Final Lap, Wednesday, Dec. 8 – Thursday, Dec. 9

6 p.m.-8 a.m., Joe Crowley Student Union

The Joe Crowley Student Union will be open for 24 hours on Prep Day to encourage students to study for their finals. Students “get their study on” during the ASUN-sponsored night with a free oxygen bar, stress-relieving activities, yoga sessions, pit stops with snacks, caffeine frenzies, massages and a continental breakfast.

Finals Breakfast and Donation Drive for The Salvation Army, Thursday, Dec. 9

7-9:30 a.m., Hilliard Plaza, in front of the Reynolds School of Journalism

ASUN’s Journalism Student Advisory Council sponsors a free, on-the-go breakfast for students on the first morning of finals and will kindly take donations of a toy or canned food item for The Salvation Army. Breakfast items will include hot coffee, hot tea, bagels and muffins. All students are welcome to stop by and get some food before finals begin Thursday morning.

Nevada adopts heat standards, despite some industry push back
