The Sagebrush Chapter of Trout Unlimited awards $23,755 to local conservation and education programs

The Sagebrush Chapter of Trout Unlimited is pleased to announce the project and conservation award recipients for 2010. Nearly a dozen applications were submitted in November 2009 from which the finalists were selected. After thorough evaluation, four local coldwater fishery conservation projects were approved by the chapter
membership for annual grant funding totaling $23,755 through the chapter’s Kroening Endowment.

The award winners cover an impressive cross-section of the conservation community and include:

  • Nevada Department of Wildlife – Pilot Peak Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Research at Marlette Lake and Catnip Reservoir in Nevada
  • Feather River Chapter of Trout Unlimited – Cold Stream Preliminary Survey of a tributary that flows into the Little Truckee River, Sierra County, California
  • The Nature Conservancy – High Sierra Resource Workshop for High School Students to take place in Carson Valley, Nevada and Carson Iceberg Wilderness, California
  • The Nature Conservancy – Wild Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Enhancement Project at Independence Lake, California

The formal presentation of the awards will take place at the chapter banquet on January 30, 2010 at the Atlantis Hotel. Tickets and information are available on the chapter website – www.sagebrushtu.org.
