The University of Nevada, Reno, will be featuring the following events this week:

Fall 2009 Honors Convocation – Tuesday, Dec. 1

3 p.m., Joe Crowley Student Union, Ballroom A

Students graduating in the Honors Program will be recognized for their outstanding academic achievement at the Honors Convocation. Honors graduates will be awarded stoles and faculty mentors will be recognized.

Senior Scholar Award Reception – Tuesday, Dec. 1

6 – 7:30 p.m., Joe Crowley Student Union, Ballroom C

Join the Nevada Alumni Association as they honor the top graduating students and their faculty mentors from each school or college at the fall 2009 Senior Scholar Award Reception. Considered one of the most prestigious awards at the University, students and their mentors will be honored by the Association with a framed certificate and pin celebrating their outstanding academic achievements.

Student Healthcare Booth – Thursday, Dec. 3

2 – 4 p.m., Joe Crowley Student Union

Orvis School of Nursing students are hosting a healthcare booth for their fellow students and peers. The booth will focus on where to get healthcare as well as blood pressure information, Body Mass Index’s, and education on the H1N1 virus.

Sierra Kids Foundation Wild West Shootout – Thursday, Dec. 3, 3:30 p.m. – Saturday, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m.

Reno High School, 395 Booth St.

The Sierra Kids Foundation is pleased to announce the sixth annual Wild West Shootout. The Shootout will be held December 3-5 at Reno High School and features an outstanding line-up of eight teams from Nevada and California, a high-flying Slam Dunk Contest, a spectacular 3-Point Shooting Competition and plenty of exciting half-time entertainment. The tournament is sponsored by the Sierra Kids Foundation to raise funds for the University’s Early Childhood Autism Program.

Clean Energy Forum – Sunday, Dec. 6

11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Joe Crowley Student Union Ballroom

The student organization, the Sustainable Energy Forum of the University of Nevada, Reno, is hosting the “Focus the Nation, Clean Energy Forum.” There will be a panel of nine experts, including University professors, local business owners and local elected officials. The forum will cover renewable and sustainable energy options (biomass, wind and solar) and policy implementation of these technologies.
