LAS VEGAS — Nevada Division of State Parks is holding its second public workshop on the park’s management plan revision for Valley of Fire State Park.
The park management plan is more than 15 years old and must be revised to address visitation increases and impacts to the park facilities and scenic beauty.
Potential new facilities and renovation ideas for current facilities will be presented at the workshop. The designation of trails for differing uses, needs for trailheads and parking and the protection of the scenic views, artifacts and natural resources of the park will also be covered
Two meetings are being held in two locations, and agendas are the same for both meetings.
Date: Dec. 8, 2009, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.
Location: Overton Community Center, 320 North Moapa Valley Boulevard, Overton, Nevada.
Date: Dec. 9, 2009 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.
Location: Division of State Parks regional office, 4747 W. Vegas Drive, Las Vegas.
“Much has changed since the original master plan was completed for Valley of Fire State Park,” said Dave Morrow, administrator of the Nevada Division of State Parks. “We need to revise the plan so the park meets the needs of future visitors. Valley of Fire is one of our top priorities and we are inviting the public to attend and provide input into the park’s development and operations.”
