“For this year’s festivities affordability was a key factor,” said acting director Sheryln Hayes-Zorn. “We’re offering free admission to the event where people can enjoy, entertainment and refreshments in a holiday environment and we have a wide variety of artists offering works in all price ranges as well as a discount in the museum store.”

Local artists include Diane and Mike Van Camp, Eileen Fuller, Nancy Janssen, Debbie Prince Lewis, Donna Love and Erik Holland.  They feature artwork such as baskets, paintings, handmade cards and ornaments, watercolor and much more.

Authors on hand for the book signing include Patty Cafferata signing “Tales of the Biggest Little City in the World,” Jack Harpster signing “100 Years in the Nevada Governor’s Mansion,” Ron James signing “Nevada’s Historic Building, Virginia City and the Big Bonanza,” and Neal Cobb and Jerry Fenwick signing “Reno Now and Then” in its second printing.

All this will go on among the remarkable artifacts of Nevada history in the Society’s museum galleries featuring an exhibit of the history of Reno.

“Many raffle prizes have been donated by businesses and artists throughout the area so visitors have the opportunity to win something very special and valuable for the small cost of a raffle ticket,” said Zorn.

The Nevada Historical Society is one of seven museums managed by the State Division of Museums and History, an agency of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs. The Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs serves Nevada’s citizens and visitors through cultural and information management, presentation and promotion of cultural resources, and education.
