SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE:
Forest Service road #41049, also known as the Thomas Creek road and located off Timberline Road in South Reno, has been closed to motorized travel as of yesterday, November 1, 2009, until May 1, 2010. This seasonal closure is being implemented to reduce resource damage and to address public health and safety concerns. Many motorists have been stuck in the snow during adverse winter conditions.
The Thomas Creek Trailhead, located at the end of Timberline road, will remain open to the public for access to non-motorized trails in the area. Recreationists are encouraged to continue using this trailhead for access to trails in Thomas Creek.
