Nevada State Parks news release:

Hobart Reservoir, Nevada State ParksLAKE TAHOE, Nev.–  Visitors to the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park backcountry are reminded that portions of the park between the Marlette and Hobart lakes are closed Monday through Friday.

“The closure is Monday through Friday and will continue until the end of October,” said Park Supervisor Jay Howard.  “Because of continued construction on the Marlette Water system, it is not safe to mix recreational use and heavy equipment.”

The closure also includes travel beyond the access gate above the Lakeview Estates at the south end of Washoe Valley.  The closure restricts backcountry travel permit holders as well.

The Ash Canyon Road, Hobart Lake, North Canyon Road, Marlette Lake Flume Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail, within the backcountry area, continue to be open daily.

The construction project will upgrade the existing diesel pump system with the installation of a natural gas generator, electric pump and new delivery piping. This system supplies water to the Virginia City, Silver City and Carson City areas.

Contact Jay Howard at 775-831-0494 for more information.
