Childhood best friends Kara Florence and Kristina Cox decided to go into business together, but when it came to finding the right fit for their sweet friendship, the duo was diligent. A shared love for cookies—and an appreciation for the brand—led the two women to open a Crumbl Cookies shop as franchisees. Their first store opened in Sparks in 2022, but it’s their newest location making headlines today: a shop in South Towne Crossing in south Reno, which celebrated its grand opening on Friday, Oct. 4.

When questioned about why Cox and Florence opened a second location, they explained that many community members were driving all the way to Sparks to get their Crumbl fix, so they wanted to create a second opportunity to share the rotating menu of saccharine desserts with locals.

“With the popularity of our desserts in the Sparks community, we’ve often heard from customers who travel long distances to enjoy our delicious desserts,” Cox said. “This new south Reno location will provide easier access for our loyal customers to experience our exciting weekly menu of cookies and desserts.”

The store is selling its treats from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Starting Oct. 9, those same goodies will be available to order through DoorDash, Uber Eats and the Crumbl app.

Both owners spent opening day at the store, handing out free chocolate chip mini cookies to anyone who visited and shaking hands with customers old and new. It gave fans a glimpse into what daily operations at the pink-hued cookie shop will look like.

If you’re stumped on what to order, don’t fret. While the menu changes weekly to bring in new flavors, Cox and Florence weren’t shy about sharing their favorites. For Cox, the lemon glaze has her heart, while Florence chooses Oreo birthday cake.

Supported by their two husbands—Brandon and CJ—the men have similar tastes. Brandon said the classic peanut butter cookie is best, while CJ said he is more likely to order the ultimate peanut butter version.

A new menu is launched every week, so what you see today may not be there tomorrow. For example, opening week (through Oct. 5) featured flavors like semi-sweet chocolate chunk, brownie sundae, ultimate peanut butter, oatmeal chocolate chip and a pumpkin cake cookie.

A new menu was available to guests beginning Oct. 7.

While you can always grab a single cookie to enjoy by yourself, or perhaps split with a friend, the cookies also come in packs of four, six and 12. Mini versions are also available in packs of three, six and 12. While cookies are the main attraction, you can occasionally find other sweets like brownies, cookie dough bites and celebration cakes.

“Supported by our husbands … we are excited to grow our business and share our love of cookies with everyone who has a sweet tooth in the Reno area,” Cox said. “We look forward to being a part of the community and helping bring friends and family together over the best desserts in the world.”
