This week’s lineup of activities in the Reno area is chock full of Halloween and cultural activities, such as the historic Nevada Day. Fall spooktacular events abound, and there are multiple opportunities to get out and about with every member of your family and friends.

  • Ken Ludwig’s The Three Musketeers at Reno Little Theater. The story, set in 1625, begins with D’Artagnan, who sets off for Paris in search of adventure. Along with D’Artagnan goes Sabine, his sister, the quintessential tomboy. Sent with D’Artagnan to attend a convent school in Paris, she poses as a young man – D’Artagnan’s servant – and quickly becomes entangled in her brother’s adventures.
  • We Are Monsters by Denver Casado & Betina Hershey at Reno Little Theater. We Are Monsters is a hilarious new musical that follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye.

  1. Firebird Light Opera presents Haunted Cabaret A spooktacular night of macabre melodies and frightfully fun performances, featuring an array of spooky songs and ghoulish costumes from the realms of the delightfully eerie. Friday and Sunday at the National Automobile Museum.
  2. Brüka Theatre presents “The Baby.” The bizarre 70’s cult horror/comedy is live on stage. Read our preview and check out some photos. Wednesday – Saturday at Brüka Theatre. (Darcy acts in the play.)
  3. Nevada Day Powwow. This public event showcases Native American/First Nations through song and dance. On site there will also be a wide variety of craft and food vendors. Friday in Carson City.
  4. Spooktacular Carnival. Enjoy a frightfully fun day filled with trick-or-treating, ghoulish games, and spine-chilling entertainment that will send shivers down your spine. Activities abound for all ages, so bring the little monsters along. Costumes are encouraged. Saturday at the National Automobile Museum.
  5. Halloween Hollow: Riverwalk District. This family-friendly, free event invites costumed youngsters for a thrilling evening of trick-or-treating from 4 to 8 p.m. Kids and families will receive a “treasure map” to uncover sweet treats at various merchant locations. Along the way, they may encounter spooky characters adding to the excitement of the evening. Saturday at the Reno Riverwalk District.
