Reno events to check out this week (8/5/24): Hot August Nights is kicking into gear

The annual Hot August Nights classic car event is gearing up with registration nearly full and a series of activities planned. The event has 6,000 registered vehicles. The official kick-off party is Monday, August 5, at the Peppermill Resort Casino from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring a Show-n-Shine, a cruise, live entertainment and vendors.

  • Harmony on the River. Experience a free community concert by the River. Hosted by the City of Reno and Sierra Tap House, this newly imagined event is set at the picturesque Reno Riverwalk District. Thursday at West Street Plaza. 
  • It’s a BOP | Black-Owned Pop-Up Marketplace. Celebrating Black Business Month, shop locally owned Black Owned Businesses and groove to the sounds of Margret’s Funk Band, playing live on the RPM Stage. Saturday at the Reno Public Market. 
  • Paws 2 Read. Practice reading with friendly therapy dogs and receive a free book. All ages are welcome. Paws 2 Read is a reading program for children of all ages presented by Paws 4 Love. Friendly dogs lend a loving, nonjudgmental ear to beginning readers. After reading to a gentle dog, children receive a free book. Registration is required. Saturday at Sierra View Library and the Sierra View Library.
  • Comedy Night with Adam Carolla and Patrick Warburton. This exclusive event features the comedic talents of Adam Carolla and Patrick Warburton and promises an evening filled with wit and entertainment. Friday at the National Automobile Museum.
  • Hot August Nights. Local casinos are celebrating HAN events all week. Here are events at the Peppermill and the Atlantis.
