An indigenous artist is guiding a series of workshops starting Sunday for those interested in designing and painting a mural at Lazy 5 Regional Park, 7100 Pyramid Highway in Spanish Springs.

According to Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space, the sessions are suitable for people of all ages and will help give the public an appreciation for what goes into designing murals to tell stories.

Paiute and Yurok artist Lena Tseabbe Wright is scheduled to run a series of free workshops. Those who are interested can attend one or more of the following five sessions:

° 1 to 3 p.m. July 7 at Spanish Springs Library, located next to the park, for a reception and planning session

° 9 a.m. to noon July 13, 14, 20, and 21 at the park’s “Hive” building, adjacent to the skate park, for live mural painting sessions
