UNR Hosting Free Movies, Concerts This Summer

A series of movies are under way at the University of Nevada, Reno, and a lineup of concerts are scheduled to start soon.

Movies are scheduled at 9 p.m. Thursdays on the Joe Crowley Student Union lawn. Free popcorn and beverages will be provided. The following is a list of films that is subject to change:

  • July 5, Ready Player One (PG13); science fiction film set in 2045, when humans use virtual reality software to escape desolation of the real world
  • July 12, A Quiet Place (PG13); most people on Earth have been wiped out by creatures with hypersensitive hearing that attack anything making noise
  • July 19, I Feel Pretty (PG13); a woman with below-average attractiveness struggling with insecurity loses consciousness and wakes to believe she’s beautiful
  • July 26, Rampage (PG13); a research space station owned by a gene manipulation company is destroyed after a lab rat mutates and causes problems
  • Aug. 2, Tully (R); a woman with two children struggles with an unplanned pregnancy and accepts her wealthy brother’s offer to pay for a night nanny
  • Aug. 9, Breaking In (PG13); a woman travels to her childhood home intending to sell her late father’s estate but finds four criminals have already moved in
  • Aug. 16, Avengers: Infinity War (PG13); after acquiring the power stone from planet Xandar, Thanos and his crew intercept a spaceship carrying those who survived a city’s destruction

Concerts, which include free watermelon, are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the University Quadrangle on the following Wednesdays:

  • July 11, Westwind
  • July 18, The Novelists
  • July 25, Beatles Flashback
  • Aug. 1, Jelly Bread
  • Aug. 8, Tyler Stafford
  • Aug. 15, Whitney Myer
