The Nevada Military Support Alliance (NMSA) and the Veterans Guest House are partnering to raise funds to expand the Veterans Guest House in Reno.
The Veterans Guest House provides veterans and their families with temporary overnight accommodations while they are receiving treatment at any medical facility or hospital, including long term care facilities, in the Reno/Sparks area.
“Following our successful partnership in the funding and construction of the Fisher House in southern Nevada, the Veterans Guest House in Reno is a natural partner,” said Scott Bensing, chairman of the Nevada Military Support Alliance. “The Guest House has been providing critical temporary housing to veterans and their families receiving care at the Reno Veterans Administration Hospital and other northern Nevada medical facilities.
“It is unlike any other facility in the country as it is funded by donors who want to give back to those warriors who fought for our freedom,” he continued. “This partnership aligns perfectly with the mission of the NMSA.”
The goal of the capital campaign project is to raise $4.2 million, of which the Nevada Military Support Alliance has committed to raising $1 million. The funds will allow the Veterans Guest House to nearly double the size of the current 17-bed facility to 33 beds.
According to Noreen Leary, Veterans Guest House CEO, “the Veterans Guest House does not receive any government funding. Private donations are what allows us to have the ‘home away from home’ that we have provided our veterans for over 20 years. Our partnership with the Nevada Military Support Alliance will make it possible for us to grow and better serve our veterans and their families for years to come.”
