billy-idol-518x500-7611646-1121394The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) announced this week the #ShareYourStory initiative to offer the public an opportunity to bid farewell to the historic Grand Theatre in style. This project allows patrons to recount their theatre experiences across social media using #ShareYourStory.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday, July 24th. The five best stories will be selected on the 29th and their writers will receive a sneak peek of the newly remodeled Grand Theatre before its unveiling and a pair of tickets to the show of their choice.

“The Grand Theatre has a long and storied history and, while we aren’t saying goodbye to that history, we are certainly ready to start the next chapter,” said Tracy Mimno, general manager at GSR. “Share Your Story is an exciting way for everyone to share their favorite experience – whether it’s seeing their favorite artist, performing on stage or even just sharing a memory with someone special.”

Stories can be submitted online at www.grandsierraresort.com/grandtheatre and will be shared on the GSR blog and social media platforms using #ShareYourStory.

In early May, GSR announced a partnership with Live Nation and they’ve released an impressive lineup of chart-toppers and award-winners including:

  • Billy Idol – Friday, Aug. 7
  • Jason Isbell – Sunday, Aug. 9
  • Diana Krall – Saturday, Aug. 15
  • Colbie Caillat & Christina Perri – Saturday, Aug. 22
  • Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo – Wednesday, Aug. 26
  • Vince Gill – Saturday, Aug. 29
  • Primus & the Chocolate Factory – Monday, Sept. 7
  • Ricky Martin: One World Tour 2015 – Wednesday, Sept. 16
  • Duran Duran: Paper Gods on Tour – Friday, Sept. 25
  • Death Cab for Cutie with Best Coast – Monday, Sept. 28
  • Hozier – Thursday, Oct. 22

The GSR is currently undergoing a $10 million renovation that will transform the theatre into one of the top entertainment venues in the West, with a capacity of more than 2,700 seats, including well-appointed luxury seats with extra legroom, wider seats, wider aisles and exclusive VIP booths with bottle services. John Sergio Fisher & Associates are leading the renovation, which will include a two-tiered entry, enclosed lobby, state-of-the-art lighting and sound upgrades, new artist facilities, green rooms and an artist lounge.

“The new venue will combine the grandeur and beauty of the existing theatre with a $10 million investment to elevate the entire sound and viewing experience and we’re excited to be so near completion,” continued Mimno.
