Reno police arrest home burglary suspects

donahue-5662190-1238250Over the last several weeks, the Reno Police Crime Suppression Team (CST) and Sparks Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) have been working together gathering information on possible suspects in multiple residential burglaries in both cities.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on November 26, an officer with the Reno Police Department on routine patrol spotted one of the vehicles CST had listed as a possibly being related to the burglaries.

francis-edwards-4364849-2489403Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and two male suspects were detained. Reno PD CST Officers responded to assist and to speak with the suspects.

The suspects agreed to speak with detectives and both suspects were taken to the Reno Police Department and interviewed by CST and Sparks PD CSU.

During the interviews, both suspects confessed to having committed numerous residential and vehicle burglaries in the Damonte Ranch area of Reno, as well as numerous burglaries in Sparks.

jayson-patterson-3589604-7866722One of the suspects also admitted to having committed two arsons, one in Sparks and the other in Reno.

After interviewing the suspects, several search warrants were obtained for multiple residences in both cities.

During the searches a large amount of stolen merchandise, including numerous stolen firearms were recovered.

preston-1538410-5683826Arrested for numerous counts of burglary, attempted burglary, ex-felon in possession of firearm and possession of stolen property were 21-year-old Preston Heller (DOB 08/04/93), 23-year-old Robert Donahue (DOB 12/23/90), and Reno resident Francis Edwards, aged 26 (DOB 12/23/90). Also arrested for the same charges, as well as two counts of arson, was 22-year-old Jaysen Patterson (DOB 07/07/92).
