KRUMBLZ NEWS RELEASE

The two former chefs from the original Siena Hotel Casino are grinning ear-to-ear today.

One year ago both chefs and hundreds of other workers were facing uncertain times when their then employer, the Siena Hotel Casino, unexpectedly closed. The Siena has since reopened under new management and the two chefs wish the hotel casino well. But they’ve moved on.

First anniversary celebration
Juan Villa and Eduardo Quevedo boldly opened Krumblz Deli and Bakery on the corner of 2nd Street and Giroux, across the street from Renown Medical Center, in October 2010. They hired their former wait staffs to fill positions in their new restaurant and are now gearing up for their successful first year anniversary celebration on Sunday, Oct. 2. They’ve even added four more cooks who were previously employed at the Siena to their team.

Krumblz Deli and Bakery boasts freshly baked bread, French pastries and a delicious array of breakfast and lunch entrees that patrons describe as “bursting with flavor.”

The first anniversary celebration features a free slice of cake beginning at 11 a.m. The anniversary special lunch will be a $6.95 for either a pulled pork, chicken breast or brisket BBQ sandwich served with kettle chips and a fountain drink. Custom cakes ordered during the anniversary celebration will be 25 percent off.

Prizes
Patrons who visit Krumblz for breakfast or lunch on Sunday, Oct. 2, can enter to win some impressive prizes. The more meals patrons enjoy at Krumblz, the more entries they can have for the prize drawings. Drawings for prizes on Sunday, Oct. 2, will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Prizes include:

· One dozen pastries

· A gift certificate for $500 toward a Krumblz custom cake order

· An office party for six off the Krumblz catering menu

· A Lavazza Coffee gift basket valued at more than $100

Winners need not be present to win.

Krumblz goal
Executive chef and co-owner Juan Villa, a Nevada native, has been in the culinary field since his Western Culinary Institute-Le Cordon Bleu graduation with honors in 2004.

“We built Krumblz to make delicious desserts and entrees for our neighbors and the Reno community,” Villa explains. “We use only the freshest ingredients and offer original and innovate flavors through traditional baked goods. Our breads are used to provide one-of-a-kind sandwiches, and our pastries are created with ingenuity and simplicity. While they’re beautiful to behold, they’re even better to eat!”

Lead pastry chef and Krumblz co-owner Edwardo Quevedo is excited and optimistic about the success of the new restaurant in the past year. Quevedo’s 10 years’ experience combined with his artistry provide him with the ability to create memorable custom-designed cakes, lemon tortes, petit fours and specialty filled mousses and Danish pastries.

Outdoor dining and wifi
Krumblz offers both indoor and covered outdoor dining seating for breakfast and lunch seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wifi is available at the restaurant.
