EDAWN and NNDA sign historic agreement

(CARSON CITY, Nev.) Tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 9:30 a.m. in the Capitol Building, old Assembly Chambers, Mike Kazmierski, CEO of EDAWN (Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada) and Robert Hooper, executive director of NNDA (Northern Nevada Development Authority), will sign a Joint Memorandum of Understanding that will establish a new collaborative approach to economic development within northern Nevada. The agreement defines the region of northern Nevada, the sub regions of “Greater Reno-Tahoe” and the “Sierra Region of Nevada” and lays out the operational procedures to ensure seamless cooperation between the two agencies.

In addition to defining how business attraction and recruitment efforts will be managed, the agreement sets a tone of full cooperation on all other areas of economic development where both agencies will strive at all times to be good partners in the joint cause of improving the economic vitality for all residents and businesses within northern Nevada.

Steve Hill, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, will witness the agreement and help celebrate this momentous occasion. “I am pleased that the northern Nevada region has come together in such a collaborative fashion. I believe this is in complete accordance with Governor Sandoval’s vision of ‘moving Nevada forward.’ It is a great step in achieving excellence in economic development.”
