Cargo Musicians to be Featured on KNPB

Date:

The Reno music scene and more than a dozen musicians and bands are the centerpiece of a new television series, “Cargo Live at Whitney Peak Hotel,” which was produced by the northern Nevada/northeastern California PBS Member Station KNPB and hosted at Whitney Peak Hotel.

The new series, which will begin airing on Saturday, April 4, features live performances of 13 bands or artists, each of whom has its own 30-minute episode.

The first episode will air at 10:30 p.m. and feature Moondog Matinee, who played at Whitney Peak Hotel’s Cargo concert hall on October 24, 2014. The other bands and musicians featured include: Misterwives, Crash Kings, Soft White Sixties, Bomba Estereo, Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas, Haerts, Johnnyswim, Moon Taxi, Barcelona, Manican Party, The Wood Brothers, and Kitten.

“Our partnership with KNPB has allowed some of our local and regional talent the opportunity to get exposure well beyond Reno city limits,” said Niki Gross, general manager. “It is also helps further raise the visibility of our concert hall, which has quickly become a favorite of touring bands because of the high-production value and unparalleled hospitality we offer.”

The “Cargo Live at Whitney Peak Hotel” series will air on KNPB Channel 5.1; the station will also post the full programs on-line atwatch.knpb.org , and will offer the program to other PBS member stations for broadcast to enable viewership outside of the Reno market.

“We want to make these concerts accessible to everyone so they can see how vibrant and diverse the music offerings are in Reno – just one of the many facets of our community that make Reno such a special place for residents and visitors alike,” said Kurt Mische, president and CEO of KNPB Public Broadcasting in Reno.
