Fall Story Stroll aims to highlight local parks, encourage reading

Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space and the Washoe County Library System are hosting the third annual Story Stroll with goals of promoting reading, emphasizing area parks, and engaging the community.

The event is scheduled from Sept. 21 through Oct. 5 along the 0.7-mile nature trail at Davis Creek Regional Park, 25 Davis Creek Road, Washoe Valley.

Each page from the children’s book, “Bear Has a Story to Tell,” by Philip C. Stead, will be mounted along the trail for participants to read as they stroll around the pond, one page at a time. The book addresses friendship and patience.

Details

Self-led walks can be done daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ranger-led walks with library activities are scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturdays.
