Exploring Yoga Philosophy Workshop

Join Jennifer Holt for an introduction to the 8 limbs that comprise the path of yoga – the path to freedom. Yoga Philosophy teaches us to stay connected, reminding us that our fundamental nature is compassionate, generous, honest & peaceful. In contemporary yoga practice, we often jump to the third limb, asana (yoga poses), and end up with an unbalanced yoga practice because it has no foundation. It’s easy to fall into the trap of measuring progress by how advanced our postures and breathing techniques are, but yoga is much more than moving or twisting the body.

In this workshop we will move beyond yoga postures to explore the inner dimensions of yoga, as outlined in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. During this seated discussion-based workshop we’ll look at each of the eight limbs of yoga, reflecting on the relevance to our own lives and experiences. You’ll discover how we can use the teachings for self-transformation and in our relationships to others. Find out how all aspects of yoga practice – and life – point to ultimate freedom from pain and sorrow and a life of purpose. This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of yogic philosophy, no prior yoga experience is necessary.
