Collateral & Co. Contemporary Dance Company Presents “Dust Horizon”

April 27 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm PDT

$5 – $15

Inspired by the poetry of Gailmarie Pahmeier, Dust Horizon is a multimedia dance performance presented by Collateral & Co. Contemporary Dance Company and hosted by the Nevada Museum of Art. The dance explores the landscape of Nevada through choreography, photography, and film. Dust Horizon premieres at the Nevada Museum of Art, 160 W. Liberty St., Reno, Nevada, on April 25, 2019 at 6:30 pm and April 27, 2019 at 2 pm.

Gailmarie Pahmeier is a recipient of Nevada Art Council’s esteemed Project Fellowship Grant and has spent the last year in residency at a variety of Nevada state parks composing narratives about her experience focusing on the people and environments she encounters in these often remote places. Inspired by Pahmeier’s writings, Collateral & Co. traveled to three Nevada State Parks: Washoe Lake State Park, Wild Horse Reservoir, and Valley of Fire, to record and document movement in the landscapes. The Valley of Fire portion of Dust Horizon will feature poetry written with inspiration from Collateral & Co. choreography and the Valley of Fire landscape by former students of Gailmarie Pahmeier. Dust Horizon combines Pahmeier’s poetry with Collateral & Co. live and recorded movement  bringing the vast and ever-changing beauty of Nevada’s landscape to the Nevada Museum of Art for two multi-sensory performances filled with poetry, film and dance.
