Joey Orduña Hastings, CEO of the Reno-based National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) was announced as a recipient of the Nevada Business Magazine Women to Watch and the University of Nevada, Reno Alumni Awards Exceptional Achievement.
As part of the Nevada Business Magazine 2024 class of Women to Watch, Orduña Hastings and other Nevada women executives and decision makers were selected by a panel of judges who reviewed their history, community work, leadership, and plans for the future. They do the impossible every day with grace and poise. This elite group of Women to Watch have been successful through excellence in leadership, perseverance, and commitment to their community and are recognized by Nevada Business Magazine and City National Bank.
The University of Nevada, Reno Alumni Association honors outstanding alumni and friends who have demonstrated remarkable professional achievement and dedication to their community and the University every year. In 2024, Orduña Hastings will be recognized with the Exceptional Achievement Award during Homecoming in October. Exceptional Achievement Award recipients must be alumni of the University who have outstanding records of distinguished career accomplishments, commitment to service complemented by a history of outstanding contributions to their profession and organizations.
The NCJFCJ will also be recognized with the Silver and Blue Appreciation Award, provided to a foundation and/or a non-profit or for-profit corporation whose support, service, and partnership of or with the University has significantly enriched the advancement of the University and contributed to its reputation as a leading institution of higher education. The NCJFCJ is headquartered in Reno and has been in existence for 87 years. The Epicenter for Judicial Education at the University of Nevada, Reno is a collaborative effort with the NCJFCJ, in partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno and other local judicial education partners. Orduña Hastings was an integral part of this commitment to offer an exclusive headquarters for educating judges, improving the justice system. The Epicenter for Judicial Education is helping to prepare our country’s most important decision-makers and leaders serving the third branch of government.
The NCJFCJ’s work spans the state. There are more than 115 judicial and associate members in Nevada, and in 2023, the NCJFCJ trained more than 235 judges, attorneys, and other court-related professionals in the state.
