Mix, mingle and learn about the fastest-growing form of philanthropy

We are excited to share that Grapevine, along with the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, Nevada Women’s Fund and Tahoe Fund are hosting CircleUp Reno-Tahoe on September 26 from 4:30PM – 7:30PM, a fun social event to mix, mingle, and learn about Giving Circles 101 a community-led movement that is reshaping the future of philanthropy at the picturesque Ranch House in the May Arboretum in Rancho San Rafael Park, Reno.

Giving Circles are diversifying and democratizing philanthropy. They connect people with shared values and interests to come together to make change by pooling their donations, and deciding as a group where the funds should go. Their efforts, discussion, and collective donation is transformed into community power, proactive change, and civic action.

The event will include remarks from Frances Munoz of the May Arboretum, Ila Achtabowski of the Nevada Women’s Fund, Emily Rasmussen, Founder & CEO of Grapevine, as well as a panel moderated by Amy Berry of the Tahoe Fund. The panel discussion will provide an in-depth perspective on how Giving Circles are part of the local philanthropic ecosystem and feature leaders from the local Giving Circles Reno Women for Good, Community Foundation Northern Nevada Women’s Giving Circle, Community Foundation Teens Giving Circle, and Thank You, Ma’am.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing together the Reno-Tahoe philanthropic community for this event to celebrate their impact, discuss the power of the Giving Circle movement, and create opportunities for community connection,” said Emily Rasmussen, Founder & CEO of Grapevine. “Giving Circles are the fastest growing form of philanthropy and provide an accessible model for anyone looking to create impact in their local community.”

Guests will also be treated to a drinks, bites, a giveaway of items from local retailers, and a bonus ticket to attend the exclusive VIP preview of the Dragon Lights that will be on display that evening after the CircleUp event and not officially open to the public until the following day.

This event is part of an initiative Grapevine is running along with the other Giving Circle field-building organizations, Community Investment Network, Philanos, and Philanthropy Together, and is focused on strengthening Giving Circles at in-person regional events.
