Health department announces air quality improvements

Northern Nevada Public Health officials have rescinded a Stage 1 emergency episode as air quality improves in the Reno-Sparks area. No smoke-related warnings or advisories are in effect.

The Park Fire near Chico, California, was the primary cause of recent poor air quality in the region. A change in wind direction, however, and more active weather are expected to continue improving conditions through Sunday. Smoke from the Park Fire is still expected to affect central and northern Washoe County.

Residents are encouraged to monitor air quality by visiting AirNow.gov for up-to-date information and forecasts. Daily air quality forecasts are posted and updated regularly. For additional details on the Air Quality Management Division, visit OurCleanAir.com.
