Dr. Karin Hilgersom, TMCC President.

Truckee Meadows Community College President Karin Hilgersom today announced to TMCC staff and faculty she is going on extended medical leave.

A family illness prompted the decision, she said. “The last year has been very difficult for me and my family. I will be taking [Family and Medical Leave Act] leave from the College for several weeks.”

Hilgersom designated her vice presidents to run the college in her absence through April 1, 2022.

“Though this decision has not been easy for me, I feel confident that my highly capable leadership team will be able to handle matters during my absence,” she said in an email. “The length of my leave is tentative and upon consultation with Chancellor Rose, my duties will be delegated to temporary officers-in-charge…”
