By Kristen Hackbarth

A Winnemucca man was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Reno on several federal charges related to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.

Josiah Kenyon, 34, made an initial court appearance Friday and will remain in custody while awaiting other court proceedings. Charges against Kenyon include engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, civil disorder and assaulting police officers.

FBI officials confirmed Kenyon as #94 in its “seeking information photos,” through witness and familial identifications and motel and metro-pass records.

Kenyon, dressed in a Jack Skellington costume from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, is alleged to have damaged an exterior window of the Capitol with a flag staff. Case documents show the replacement cost of the window was more than $41,000.

He is also alleged to have used several objects, including what officials believe is a table leg with a nail protruding, to assault law enforcement officers attempting to protect the building.

Kenyon is one of 210 individuals charged with assaulting law enforcement officers at the Capitol riot on Jan. 6. The FBI said it has arrested more than 675 individuals on charges related to the insurrection.
