Prepare your pajamas as V&T Railway is celebrating the return of THE POLAR EXPRESSTM Train Ride in Carson City this 2021 holiday season. After taking a year off due to the pandemic, the railway is now selling tickets to this immersive family-oriented experience at Eastgate Depot. Popular dates and times are expected to fill quickly, but seats are now available for departures beginning Nov. 19, 2021, and continuing through Dec. 24, 2021. Tickets are available at  vtrailway.com and guests are encouraged to book soon as this beloved holiday tradition is expected to sell out.

“V&T Railway Commission is so excited to bring back this holiday tradition in a safe and clean environment. We all missed the presence of THE POLAR EXPRESSTM Train Ride last year and you could feel it in the region,” said David Peterson, Commission Chair. “This year’s train will continue the beloved ride to The North Pole and you can expect to see all your favorite characters once again.”

The adventure comes to life when the train departs for a round-trip journey to the North Pole led by a cast of talented actors. Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, passengers will relive the magic of the classic story as they are whisked away on THE POLAR EXPRESSTM for a one-hour trip to meet Santa. Once on board, the conductor will work his way through the coach and punch golden tickets before hot chocolate and a delicious cookie are served by dancing chefs. Passengers then read along with the classic children’s book, The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa and his helpers board the train to greet passengers and each guest is given the first gift of Christmas. During the trip, characters on each car lead fantastic onboard entertainment – just like in the film! Each guest will take home a keepsake sleigh bell and souvenir golden ticket in addition to the wonderful memories made on this magical trip. Just like the kids in the book, families are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride!

The ride offers three different car experiences: Coach Car, a new Deluxe Coach Table Car and VIP Car. Also new this year is a private room in the Deluxe Coach Table Car offering a private experience for up to 15 guests. Masks are required while onboard and inside the train depot per government regulations. Ticketing is tiered with standard rates Nov. 19 through Dec. 16, 2021, and premium dates starting Dec. 17, 2021, and running through Dec. 24, 2021. Tickets start at just $35 for children and range up to $85 per person, based on date and selected passenger car. Exact dates, times, and fares are available by visiting vtrailway.com.

Credentialed press members and influencers covering the event are welcome to our Media Night Nov. 18, 2021. Please contact Allyson Bolton at [email protected] to reserve tickets for your group if you qualify.

About V&T Railway

V&T Railway, located in Carson City, Nev., is a state funded, historical railroad that invites guests of any age to enjoy a journey into rich Nevada history while traveling through Nevada’s “wild west” Virginia Mountain Range. With reconstruction efforts beginning in the early 1990’s, the state set up a commission to rebuild the line, operating today as the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railway. Since inception, the Commission has restored 16-miles of track from Gold Hill into the Carson River Canyon, giving the railway the opportunity for more diverse trains. The rail continues to operate its regular season from May through mid-October, with fully narrated roundtrip train rides from Carson City to Virginia City offering scenic routes and historic sites. The train also features various special events including Toast of the Canyon wine trains and the wildly popular Polar Express.
