County hosts ‘Stuff-a-Bus’ winter clothes drive for adoptive, foster children on Friday

Date:

Washoe County Human Services Agency this Friday, Nov. 5, will host a “Stuff a Bus” drive-by donation drive to collect new winter clothes for children in foster care or who’ve been adopted. The drive is from 2 to 6 p.m. in front of the Sparks Target near Legends Mall, 1550 East Lincoln Way.

The event is timed for November’s National Adoption Awareness Month. More than 800 children are in care in Washoe County, officials said.

“This donation drive goes a long way in providing warm clothing for our most vulnerable children in Washoe County,” said HSA Children’s Division Director Ryan Gustafson. “Children in care have had a difficult start to their lives, but seeing the kiddos smile when we hand them a new coat, gloves or sweatshirt is something special.”

Donations of new clothing items will be accepted at the RTC bus parked in front of the Target store. Specific needs include:

  • Jackets, coats and gloves
  • Socks
  • Beanies
  • Sweatpants and hooded sweatshirts
  • Boots
  • Blankets

Donors can also provide gift cards so that items can be purchased. Donations will be distributed to children at the HSA Family Engagement Center over the next several months.
