Washoe County’s Toys For Tots campaign kick off event at Dillard’s at the Summit Mall (sponsored)

Date:

The Washoe County (Reno, NV) Toys for Tots Campaign, in partnership with the Dillard’s at the Summit Mall, and the Reno Police Department is hosting the community’s first children’s Christmas gift drive kick off event on October 29th from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The drive will take place at Dillard’s cosmetics entrance at 13933 S. Virginia St, Reno, NV 89511.

This drive is the first event to be put on by the Washoe County Toys for Tots Campaign. The event’s purpose is to gather toys, movie passes, Wild Island/Coconut Bowl gift certificates, or Urban Air, Fly High or Defy gift cards. An award presentation will be held honoring prior campaign coordinators for their years of service.

This event has been months in the making since our new Campaign Coordinator, Josh Hall, was chosen to lead the effort this year. The gifts from this drive will help ensure that the Washoe County Toys for Tots Campaign will be able to provide holiday presents for disadvantaged families this Christmas season. Toys for Tots, a 70-year-old national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to disadvantaged children during the Christmas holiday season.

The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by the Marines offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime. These experiences help children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community. Last year the Marine Corps fulfilled the holiday hopes and dreams of seven million less fortunate children in 792 communities nationwide. Since 1947 over 244 million children have been assisted.
