Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill will be live online Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. to answer questions about her vision for the Washoe County School District’s future. Billed a “virtual forum,” the online event is the next step in the district’s selection process for a permanent superintendent.

Dr. McNeill is the lone remaining candidate in the months-long search to replace former superintendent Traci Davis. The Board of Trustees at their March 31 meeting voted to suspend the search and release the other candidates from the selection pool. At that meeting Trustee Andrew Caudill, citing the current pandemic and resulting tumult within the community, said the board largely favored McNeill and hiring her sooner rather than later would be in the district’s best interests.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our community to this Virtual Forum, and eager to hear the questions they pose to Dr. McNeill,” said Board President Malena Raymond. “This is a great opportunity for members of the public to ‘meet’ Dr. McNeill online and to learn more about her commitment to education and to our 64,000 students.”

McNeill will answer questions about her approach to education, her work in the District, and her goals for the future of WCSD. Members of the community can submit questions any time before or during the meeting to [email protected]

The meeting is Tuesday, April 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. streamed live online at https://youtu.be/vWL2pZc8mXM
