The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County hope to improve traffic flow and capacity at North McCarran Blvd. and U.S. 395 with the addition of a new turn lane.
Construction begins Monday, May 4 on an additional extended left turn lane on North McCarran Blvd. between southbound U.S. 395 and Northtowne Lane.
During construction, the eastbound left turn lane on McCarran Blvd. to northbound U.S. 395 will be closed to traffic. The on-ramp will remain open and will be accessible to westbound traffic. Eastbound drivers will be detoured at Clear Acre Lane to access northbound U.S. 395.
In addition, pavement slurry seal work and striping at the intersection of Red Rock Road and Silver Lake Boulevard, near the new traffic signal, will start May 7.
Both projects are expected to complete by mid-May. They’re part of the RTC’s $1.3 million Traffic Engineering Spot 8 Improvements Project. The project is funded with regional road impact fees.
