TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada is going virtual, at least in the short term. The company holds auditions for its Artown production of “The Wizard of OZ” on Tuesday, April 28 via ZOOM meetings. They’ll also offer virtual story time for younger students and resume classes through ZOOM.
“By transitioning our auditions and classes to a virtual platform, we are hopeful that we can provide a reprieve for families during the state shutdown while also being ready to return with a great production this summer,” said Elisha Harris, executive director for TheatreWorks.
Those interested in auditioning for “Wizard of Oz” need to reserve an audition time slot on the TheatreWorks website. For those without access to ZOOM, pre-recorded video auditions will be accepted. All submissions should include a one-minute monologue and a 30-second song selection sung a capella.
Live story time nights for younger children, led by a TheatreWorks instructor, start Monday, April 27. The non-profit organization is also in the process of reopening some weekly classes through ZOOM to help provide entertainment and learning for enrolled children during the quarantine. To register for any of the available online classes, please visit TheatreWork’s website.
