Day 28 – Easter

Date:

Submitted by Karl Breckenridge

I have learned through bitter experience that readers have a whole lot more to do on some mornings each year, Easter being one of them, than to pore over my takes on life. I was planning on a column for This is Reno built upon Irving Berlin’s “Easter Parade” song, where you gals are all dolled up in your Easter bonnets, I’ll write for you a sonnet, with the photographer, sure, and “You’ll find yourself in the Rotogravure.” My question was to be, what is “the Rotogravure?”

But that’s corny – even for me – so let’s take a day off. I don’t have a quality Easter column written, nor an old one I can steal from myself and re-run. Go forth and enjoy the day with your families – we’ll meet back here tomorrow and compare notes!

But never forget – be safe, huh? Happy Easter, to all …

Karl Breckenridge

Karl Breckenridge was slowly going nuts. So he decided to help out This is Reno by writing a daily out-of-his-mind column for the duration of the coronavirus shutdown. Now that it’s over he’s back to his usual antics, drinking coffee with the boys at the Bear and, well, we’re not sure what else. But he loved sharing his daily musings with you, so he’s back, albeit a little less often, to keep on sharing. Karl grew up in the valley and has stories from the area going back to 1945. He’s been writing for 32 years locally.
