Nevada today launched the Nevada Health Response COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Initiative to provide further guidance to the community on recommendations and strategies to prevent and reduce the spread of coronavirus.
NHRC released a five-page document clarifying details discussed by Governor Sisolak, both during his March 12 Declaration of Emergency and March 17 press conference. In short, the guidance urges Nevadans to stay home, avoid areas where people congregate and maintain social distance.
Nearly two dozen business/industry types were listed as essential services or sectors and can remain open. These include locations such as gas stations, laundromats, auto repair services, veterinary offices and home maintenance and repair services.
In addition, the Nevada State Medical Association urged people seeking COVID-19 testing or symptom assessment not to visit emergency rooms or urgent cares, and also not to enter any hospital doctor’s office or medical facility without speaking to a medical professional first.
Those who believe they may be infected with COVID-19 are directed to call their medical provider first to assess options for telemedicine. If they can’t reach a provider, they should reach out to an area health authority. The second directive is to follow physician and public health official directions.
