A Classic Christmas Music Performance to Rekindle Your Holiday Memories

The spirit of Christmas comes to life as the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra presents “Home for the Holidays” Dec. 13 and 14 in Reno, Nev. Headlining the performance this year are world-renowned trombone soloist Bob McChesney and dynamic entertainer and GRAMMY nominated vocalist Calabria Foti.

“This year’s production is a good-old-fashioned tribute to the music that we grew up with here in America,” said Chuck Reider, Music Director. “The whole family will enjoy over two-hours of music and songs that will include “The Christmas Song,” “Let It Snow,” “White Christmas” and many other classics that will rekindle the magical memories of being home for the holidays.”

The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra will open the show with “Leslie Fudge’s Hot Holly Dolls” performing other classic favorites for all to enjoy.

The performances will be held at Cargo Concert Hall at the Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno, Nev. on Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets start at $20 for General Seating (plus processing fee), $10 for Students (with I.D.) and can be purchased at RenoJazzOrchestra.org.

“The entire evening will offer a seasonal blend of music and song presented by a variety of internationally-acclaimed artists as well as performances from student vocalists and musicians from our own hometown,” said Reider.

Throughout the night, the show will feature Bob McChesney who has distinguished himself as one of the preeminent soloists in the world, not only in the realm of jazz and improvisation but as an interpreter of the most difficult and highly technical Classical repertoire, as well. When he is not performing around the world, McChesney is a fixture in the recording studios where he has enjoyed a long career with studio orchestras scoring hundreds of films and television shows. He can also be heard on CDs for Barbra Streisand, Shakira, Michael Bublé, Natalie Cole, Rod Stewart, Chicago, Michael Bolton, and numerous Grammy-winning CDs.

Just as gifted and accomplished is Calabria Foti who will share the stage with McChesney and the Reno Jazz Orchestra. Foti is a consummate vocalist, violinist, composer, author, educator, and overall connoisseur of music from Classical to Broadway. As noted by famed singer Johnny Mathis: “Listening to a beautiful voice is one of my greatest pleasures in life. Listening to this recording of Calabria Foti’s voice is some of the most beautiful and artistic music I have ever heard.”
