New sculptures arrive at downtown park

By ThisIsReno
Bicentennial Sculpture Garden

The City of Reno is installing new sculptures at Bicentennial Park in downtown Reno. The new sculptures include “Circles” by Chris Rench, Ric Blackerby’s “Daring Young Man on the Trapeze,” Carolyn Guerra’s “Rhinoman” for $20,000, and Pierre Riche’s “Iron Horse.”

The park was initially intended to rotate its sculptures each year, but an alleged threat of legal action curtailed that plan early this year. The city instead purchased new sculptures.

The total for the project by the city is $80,000 for sculpture purchases and installation.

Glad to see we’re finally getting some replacement items for the Park. I’ve been worrying and wondering about when we were going to fill the gaps. Thanks, love the new artwork.

The art works are an amazing addition to the culture of Reno. So unique and wonderful.

I was hoping something was going to be put in place of the artwork removed. Love looking at these pieces. The walk along the Truckee is one of our favorite places to spend a morning. Thanks.
