Jacobs Entertainment today released a rendering of a $5 million revamp of the Courtyard Inn Motel. The company named it Loft 601 and said that a majority of its units will be studio apartments.

The announcement comes as many have questioned the company’s intentions for the properties it has purchased west of downtown.

Loft 601 will be a 38-room apartment building along the Neon Line District. It will be completed in the summer of 2020, company representatives said.

“Existing Courtyard Inn Motel tenants will be given assistance and subsidies in their efforts to relocate,” Jacobs said in a media statement. “Jacobs Entertainment’s housing managers work with each and every resident in their relocation efforts. Similar to Renova Flats, the new Loft 601 units will include 10 percent senior affordable units, which help in crucial relocation efforts.”

Jonathan Boulware, a vice president at Jacobs, said that there are currently two families living at the Courtyard Inn with five to six family members each, living in 300-square-foot rooms.

“No one should have to live like this, and we are committed to working with the Reno Housing Authority and others in an effort to improve the quality of life of these individuals,” Boulware added.
