May Museum kicks off holiday drive

No one should go without warm, dry socks, but too often the needy do. This holiday season, the Wilbur May Museum is teaming up with Community Office Solutions for a sock drive. Drop off pairs of NEW socks for men, women, children, and babies at the May Museum during business hours through Dec. 15.

Socks are the most requested item in shelters across the country. Many homeless people walk miles per day in order to survive, leaving their socks threadbare and damp. Damp socks cause infections and the cold causes frostbite. However, people rarely donate socks to homeless organizations.

Along with the collection drive, a percentage of the proceeds from every order placed on the Community Office Solutions website will be used to purchase more socks. Everything collected will be donated to The Eddy House, Northern Nevada HOPES, and Volunteers of America to distribute to those in need.

What: Sock Drive

When: November 1 – December 15, 2019

Where: Wilbur D. May Museum, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno

Contact: (775) 785-5961 or www.maycenter.com
