Zombie Thriller Dance held in Downtown Reno on Saturday, October 26.

Hundreds wearing zombie garb gathered in downtown Reno on Saturday, Oct. 26 to perform Michael’s Jackson’s “Thriller” dance under the Reno Arch. Described by event promoters as a “flash-mob style costumed public performance,” the rendition of the famous music video featured local dance students, costumed revelers, and crowds of spectators capturing the spectacle on cell phones.

Heart & Sole Dance Academy offered instruction in the “Thriller” dance in the weeks leading up to the performance. Several students of the Academy also provided pre-event entertainment and headed the undead  mob during the official performance. DJs perched atop a Red Bull van blasted the tunes.

An annual event since 2008, the “Thriller” dance has been held at several locations around Reno, but the arch is the most common venue. Although the performance kicks off the Zombie Crawl, a costumed pub crawl with 38 participating venues in the greater downtown area, the dance itself was free, alcohol-free and family friendly.
