The Washoe County Regional Transportation Commission is advising motorists and pedestrians that construction on Virginia Street will be taking place between Mt. Rose and Vassar streets starting Monday.

Construction activities will consist of sidewalk demolition and reconstruction. Actual road construction will begin in the spring of 2020.

The street will be open to southbound traffic only between Vassar and Regency Way. Northbound traffic will be detoured at Regency to Wells Avenue.

“Midtown customers can use boardwalks to reach businesses, which will remain open and accessible,” said RTC spokesperson Lauren Ball. “Roadway reconstruction on Virginia Street between Mt. Rose Street and Vassar Street is planned for next spring.”

Workers are working Monday through Saturday, 7 am to 7 pm.
